As a VP of Risk and Audit, who is also overseeing all compliance matters for a credit union, Karla is doing the work of two or three people. The Challenge
Karla Munoz, the Vice President of Risk and Audit at Guadalupe Credit Union in Santa Fe, New Mexico, faced a seemingly impossible task. A new hire in risk and audit for a small credit union, she was also responsible for compliance and vendor management and oversaw a team of four.

2. Inadequate visibility and control. The manual transfer of data from one spreadsheet to the next every new month, the need to go back through numerous spreadsheets to find ongoing actions in flight and determine their status, and the need to send remediation actions to team members manually all introduced opportunities for error and oversight.
“Every month we created new spreadsheets. We had to go back to see what findings were corrected and closed. We had to re-read everything to make sure it was remediated [because] it wasn’t clear what was remediated.”
It wasn’t long before Karla recognized that she could not provide adequate efficiency and oversight with her small team. She needed help.

That’s something I value and appreciate because there’s some companies where after you sign the contract with them, you try to reach out to them and they just don’t have the time or anyone to help.
